Zarine was born in a Parsi business family, to parents Meherji and Dhunmai Bharucha in 1931. She had a distinguished academic and professional career.

Zarine distinguished herself as an able administrator in the field of Man-made Fibre Fabrics for 25 years.  Thereafter, she held dual responsibilities as Secretary of Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) and Hon. Secretary of the Federation of Indian Automobile Associations.  She was recognized by Alliance Internationale de Tourisme for her work on carnets, under which cars are imported free of customs duty by tourists into India.  Then, she was associated with the Diners Club of India and held the portfolios of Legal Affairs and Credit Management.

Her eminent positions were due to her sincerity, devotion and capacity for hard work beyond the call of duty.  She also had an excellent academic record, graduating from Elphinstone College with mathematics and statistics.  She completed her Law from Government Law College, winning all coveted awards including the Kinloch Forbes Gold Medal.  She studied law further for her own pleasure.  She was well known at St. Mary’s School (I.S.C.) for setting up the Hobby Arts Center, bringing a new dimension to education.

She was a staunch devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba.  She worked on translations from Marathi into English of books on Baba, at the instance of her beloved Gurudev, Sivanesan Swamiji.  The books she has translated and transliterated are Das Ganu Maharaj’s “Stavanamanjari”, “Astottarasata Namavalih” and “Sagunopasana.”  She also edited “God’s Rainbow and other short stories of Sree Sadguru Sivanesan Swamiji of Shirdi.”

Her Masterpiece is the rendering of Hemadpant’s Satcharit from Marathi to English titled “Sree Sai Samartha Satcharitra”. This is now available from Shirdi Sai Sansthan at a very moderate price of Rs.135.00.

Zarine set up the Meher Dhun Endowment.  Through the Endowment she set up an Ashram (Shri Sivanesan Swamiji Gurukulam) in Shirdi where the samadhi of Sivanesan Swamiji stands in a majestic structure.

Though She is no longer with us physically now, her spirit and dedication to Shirdi lives on.  Zarine merged into the lotus feet of Shri Sai Baba on 28th December 2006 and her Samadhi has been made within the premises of Sivanesan Swamiji Ashram at Pimpalwadi Road in Shirdi.

Four Aratis of Baba sung by Ajit Kadkade with English translation recited by Zarine was first produced by Zarine in cassette form (in four cassettes). She also produced “Sai Bavani” (Sai Satcharit in Essence & Sai Tarak Mantra “Om Sai, Shri Sai, Jai Jai Sai”) in cassette form.
