Smt. Saraswathi Murthy an ardent devotee of Shirdi Saibaba was a B.com Graduate. She was born on 24th December 1959 at Bangalore. Her parents were Shri.Govindaraju and Smt.Radhamma. She was a born prodigy. She learnt Classical Music basics from her mother. Later she learnt advanced Carnatic Classical Music with eminent Music Teacher Sri.D.Srinivasaiah for almost 3 years. She completed her Carnatic Classical Music Junior Grade as well as Senior Grade with Distinction. She was an active Music Teacher and had trained over 500 students. She had shared stage with acclaimed musicians like B.K.Sumitra, Shashidhar Kote and many more. Some of her accomplishments are listed below for the benefit of Sai Devotees:

  • Proficient in Vocal Music such as Devaranama, Carnatic Classical, Bhavageethe and Janapadageethe.

  • She was a B-Grade artist of ALL INDIA RADIO, Bangalore for 15 years and gave regular performances under Bhavageethe (Geethalahari).

  • Gave performances at various places like Rotary Club, Meditation and Study Circle, Chinmaya Mission, Theosophical Society, Kidwai Cancer Institute, Ragigudda Temple, ISCKON Temple, Devagiri Venkateshwara Temple etc.

  • She had given Sai Bhajan performance at Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan four times.
  • Gave devotional songs programme on UDAYA TV under the programme called ”Naada”.

  • Gave first ever Sai Bhajan programme on the occasion of Gurupoornima on SHANKARA TV.
  • Wrote many scripts and had directed children’s programs and plays at ALL INDIA RADIO, Bangalore.

  • She appeared in a dedicated detailed Interview highlighting her achievements under “Sneha Snehitheyarigaagi” hosted by “Zee Kannada TV Channel”.

  • She was an approved Artist in Light Music from “The Department of Kannada & Culture, Government of Karnataka. Under this, she had performed at Lalbagh, Cubbon Park under the programme titled “Udyanavanadalli Udayaraaga”. Performed Bhaaavageethe program at Yavanika under Friday Cultural Programs. She had sung Kannada Geethe, Janapada Geethe at Indiranagar under “Kavya Kaveri”.

  • She had given Vachana Sahitya performance at Veerashaiva Samaja, Basava Bhavana.

  • She being a staunch devotee of Shirdi Saibaba had written and composed around 1000 songs on Saibaba.  She had also published a book named “Shri Sai Sugandha” containing 100 of these songs. She gave regular Sai Bhajan Programmes along with her students at all the prominent Saibaba Temples of Bangalore singing her own composition with her own classical tunes. She was also performing on request of Sai Devotees on important occasions like Birthdays, Gruhapravesham, Anniversary functions etc. Her compositions becane very popular and highly appreciated by Sai Devotees.

  • She had written a book called “Divya Anubhava Kathaamrutha” in Kannada about devotee experiences in J.P.Nagar 7th Phase Saibaba Mandir.

  • She conducted regular music classes for several students at home.

  • She composed songs highlighting the “Sirsi Sonde Swarnavalli Mutt” and the same has been published and released as a Book.

  • She had composed songs related to “Hariharapura Kshetra Mutt, Chikmagalur and the same was released in a book form..

  • She had composed songs related to a great realized person aged about 135 years of Hooli Village near Dharwad popularly called by the locals as “Sri Huli Ajja”. The Audio CD of the same was also released.

  • She participated in a "Jugal Bandi" concert with eminent Hindustani Classical Music exponent Smt.Sangeeta Kakhandaki under the "TTD Dasa Sahitya Project, Tirupati" held on 2nd February 2011 at Hampi, Karnataka wherein she rendered rare compositions of Saint Sri.Purandara Dasa and enthralled the audience with her melodious voice.

  • She had composed many songs on the life history of "Sri Chidambara Maharaja" of Muragod Kshetra, Karnataka and the same was released in a book form.

  • She had sung Bhakti Songs at Ganagapur Dattatreya Utasava held every year.

  • Gave Programme on Dasa Sahitya at Kaginele, Karnataka on the occasion of Kanakadasa Jayanthi  in the month of December 2011.
  • Performed at Dattatreya Temple, Chikkodi, Belgaum District of Karnataka on 26th May 2012.
  • Gave 2 Hours Programme on Dasa Sahitya at Shiva Chidambara Ashram  at Gubbi Karnataka on the occasion of Shiva Chidambara Vardanthi on 10th June 2012
  • Sung in praise of Guru on the occasion of Guru Poornima Programme held at Karkihalli near Hospet, Bellary District on 1st July 2012.
  • She has translated all the 4 Marathi Arati's on Shirdi Saibaba to Kannada without changing the meaning and the Tune of the Arati's. The same was released in CD form on 13th June 2015.

  • She had brought out a book in kannada containing Sri Sai Satcharitre, Sri Sai Suprabhata, Udhi, Dakshine Mahime, Navavidha Bhaktiya Archane, Chavadiya Meravanige etc., titled "Sai Sugandha - Part II" which was released on 13th June 2015.
  • She gave performance on Dasa Sahitya at the famous Tirumala Tirupati Temple for their "Sahasra Deepa Alankarana Seva" on 21st May 2017.

She passed away after a brief illness on 21st February 2025.
