Sai Mahabhakta Shri.S.A.Patankar belonged to Kayastha Prabhu caste and worked as an Cinema Artist. He lived in Dadar, Mumbai of Maharashtra.

He heard about Sai Baba for the first time from his friend Shri.Samant. He learnt about the greatness and goodness of Sai Baba from his friend and began to worship the photograph which he hung on the wall of his house. Once his child was suffering from fever for many days. One day a Fakir appeared in his house at night abour 2 or 3 a.m. and touched the ailing child. Shri.Patankar came near his child and made did pranams with his folded hands to the Fakir. The Fakir in return waved his hands asked him not to touch the child and said: "The child will be alright". Saying this the Fakir disappeared.

On another occasion, Shri.Patankar's two children were unwell. Noticing that the temperature of one child was continuing high for days, Patankar looked at Baba's photograph and prayed Him to save the child. Later, Patankar took the thermometer in his hands and placed it on the photograph and said: "If you are looking after us, how is it that these children are suffering? I shall place the thermometer on the child and take the temperature. If it has come down, I shall have faith in you and I shall bring the child to you for Ramanavami Festival. If not, how can I have faith in you?". Conversing like this, Patankar removed the thermometer from the picture and placed it on the child's body. To his utter surprise, Patankar found that the child's temperature was normal!
