The mention of Late Shri.Dada Maharaj Patgaonkar has been made in Shri Sai Leela Magazine 1987 Issue and Baba’s Rinanubandh by Sai Bhakta Vinny Chitluri.

Shri.Dada Maharaj Patgaonkar alias Balakrishna Keshav Vaidya was a resident of a small village called Patgaon, near Rajapur in Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra. He was a follower of Nav Nath (Shri Jaalander) Sampradaya. He being a spiritually advanced person, was famous in that region for his kind and loving nature. He helped many poor and downtrodden people and brought them on the path of devotion. He was most famous for exorcising evil spirits. He and Baba even though were contemporaries, never met. Yet they knew everything about each other. In fact, they had telepathic communication with each other.

A householder from Mumbai was possessed by evil spirit and made him very violent. Because of this, the man started causing bodily harm to his relatives. The family tried many remedies but to no avail. When they were not able to tolerate his violence, they tied him with a rope. Under such circumstances, they brought him to Shirdi.

The moment Sai Baba saw him, He said: “Arre, he is possessed by a mighty demon. I don’t have a cure for him. Take him to Baba of Patgaon, and tell Dada Maharaj that I have sent him”. As per Baba’s advice, the family searched for Patgaon and took him to Dada Maharaj. It took fifteen days for the family to rech Patgaon. On the day of their arrival, Dada Maharaj told all his nearest and dearest devotees that Baba was sending a violent mad person to him. The family had never seen Dada Maharaj before, and as Dada Maharaj did not wear the typical Sanyasi’s Ochre Robe, they did not recognize him. But the householder recognized him and fell at his feet. Dada Maharaj kept the mad man with him for eight days and cured him of his demonic spirits. Later, the householder left Patgaon in a calm and sere state of mind.

On another occasion, some of his devotees went to Patgaon for his darshan. While leaving, they decided to go to Shirdi. Hearing this Dada Maharaj was filled with joy. Handing over a Zari Pheta (Gold embroidered cloth used as a turban) to them, he said: “Give this cloth in Baba’s hand. Do Namaskar. But do not say anything”. As per the instructions of Dada Maharaj, the devotees went to Shirdi, took Sai Baba’s darshan and placed the cloth in Baba’s hand. Then they stood aside with folded hands. On receiving the Cloth Baba danced with joy saying: “My Bala has sent me a Zari Dhoti. How nice of him”. Then He tied the pheta on his head and showed it to every bhakta that came to the Dwarakamai saying, “Look! My Bala has sent this lovely Dhoti for me”.

Eventually, Dada Maharaj took Samadhi on the 6th Day of auspicious Kartik month in the year 1941.
