Sai Mahabhakta Shri.Bhaskar Sadasiv Satam belonged to Hindu Maratha Community. He was working as a Sub Inspector of Police at Lamington Road, Mumbai. He joined the force as an ordinary Constable in the year 1911 and rose to the position of Sub Inspector around the year 1930. He met another Sai Mahabhakta Shri.Nagesh Atmaram Samat who spoke to him very highly about Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi. During their conversation Shri.Bhaskar promised him that he would visit Shirdi. But he did not do so for so many years. Finally, in the year 1940, many years after Baba's Mahasamadhi Shri.Bhaskar Sadasiv Satam and Shri.Nagesh Atmaram Samat happened to work together at Nargam Training School. Unfortunately, due to some untoward incident, Bhaskar lost his job. Infact, Bhaskar was suspended from Job on 16th February 1940. During that time, he earnestly prayed to Baba while he was undergoing suspension. He was very much in need of Udhi and Prasad from Shirdi. By Baba's grace he received the Prasad but not the Udhi even though Shri.Sagun Rao Meru Naik had sent both. He received the Prasad after he was dismissed from service on 28th February 1940. Then Samat again intervened and asked Bhaskar to visit Shirdi without setting any preconditions. Thus, Bhaskar Sadasiv Satam and his son visited Shirdi during Ramanavami Festival in the year 1940 and prayed earnestly to Baba. They spent 2 full days there. On his return, at Dadar, he met a Constable who told him that Bhaskar had been reinstated and posted to Lamington Road. But no such order was expected to be passed during that period. On 28th April 1940 he appealed against the order. On 14th May 1940, the order was passed in his favour and he was reinstated and posted to Lamington Road Police Station. Baba's decision had come from the Constable's mouth two months earlier itself! Shri.Bhaskar Sadasiv Satam had debts to clear. He prayed to Baba and Baba sent him some money. Thus, he was freed from debt and was well provided. (Source: Devotees' Experiences of Shri Sai Baba, Parts I, II and III by Late Shri.B.V.Narasimha Swamiji). |
