Shri Sai Baba Sansthan To Celebrate Gokulashtami Festival Along With Shri Sai Sacharitra Parayan Ceremony - Courtesy: Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust (Shirdi)

Shri Sai Baba Sansthan’s Chief Executive Officer Shri.Arun Dongre informed media persons through a  press release  on Wednesday, 22nd  July 2020 that every year, Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust (Shirdi), Natya Rasik Sanch, Shirdi & Shirdi Villagers are jointly organizing Shri Sai Satcharitra Mahaparayan Ceremony from Shravana Shudda Pratipad. Likewise, from this year onwards, the ad-hoc committee of Shri Sai Baba Sansthan have decided to hold Shri Sai Satcharitra Parayan Ceremony from Shravana Shudda Pratipad i.e., from Tuesday, 4th August 2020 before Gokulashtami Festival. Shri.Arun Dongre said that both the festivals will however be celebrated in a virtual manner in the backdrop of dreaded Corona Virus Disease.

Shri.Arun Dongre said Shirdi villagers were repeatedly demanding for celebration of Gokulashtami festival. Shri Sai Leela Magazine 1923 edition published by Sansthan states that Gokulashtami Festival was formerly celebrated locally in Shirdi but on a large scale. Coincidentally, Gokulashtami Festival and Shri Sai Satcharitra Parayan Festival are being held together for the last 25 years in the holy month of Shravan. Therefore, if the date of commencement of Parayan is postponed, the Gokulashtami Festival which used to be widely celebrated at the local level will still be celebrated in a grand scale. The tradition of holding Gokulashtami Festival along with Shri Sai Satcharitra Parayan Ceremony is going on for the last 25 years.

At present, due to the outbreak of Covid-19 (Corona Virus) in the entire Country, Samadhi Mandir of Shri Sai Baba has been closed indefinitely for devotees. There is no guarantee about the starting of darshan. Due to rampant spread of Corona Virus infection, the Government has imposed restrictions on Crowds and Crowded events. Also, a notification has been issued in the State under the Prevention of Infectious Diseases Act. The notification will be in force till 31st July 2020 in Maharashtra as well as Ahmednagar district. Hence, it will not be possible to hold Mass Parayan Ceremony this year. Hence, both the festivals will be celebrated in a virtual manner in the backdrop of dreaded Corona Virus Disease. Now, only the commencement of Parayan Ceremony has been postponed and will be held between 7.00 am to 11:00 am from Tuesday, 4th August 2020.

Due to the fact that the 25 year old tradition of holding Gokulashtami Festival and Shri Sai Satcharitra Parayan together from Shravana Shudda Pratipat should not be broken, Shri Sai Baba Sansthan has made arrangement for Pooja as well as Shri Sai Satcharitra Parayan Ceremony on Samadhi Mandir Stage. Shri.Dongre appealed to all Sai devotees to perform Parayan at their respective homes and also said that Parayan Ceremony will be telecast Live.
